Download

Your home first, then the installer.

Every installer asks for a setup link, and the link comes from your home dashboard, so the order matters: create your home, add a device, download for that computer, paste the link. The same page in your dashboard offers these downloads too.

  1. 1  Choose your region and sign in with your email.
  2. 2  Add a device; copy its setup link.
  3. 3  Install below and paste the link when asked.

Each download link always serves the current release. The build is the same one your dashboard offers.

Windows

Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit

A normal setup wizard that installs for your user only, with no administrator rights. It asks for the setup link on its own page, shows what the program sends and what it never sends, and registers HopSense to start when you sign in. When a new version is out, the tray offers its installer, which keeps your enrolment and history.

HopSense-Setup.exe

"Windows protected your PC"

The Windows build is not yet code-signed, so SmartScreen shows this warning on first run. It appears because the program is new, not because anything is wrong. Click More info, then Run anyway. The warning goes away once our signing certificate is in place; until then it is the honest state of the build, and we would rather say so than hide it.

macOS

Every Mac, Apple Silicon and Intel

One download for any Mac on macOS 12 or later, signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens with a double-click. Open the disk image, drag HopSense to Applications, open it, and choose Enter link or code from the icon in the menu bar. New versions install themselves quietly in the background, verified against our signing key, and keep your enrolment, settings and history.

HopSense.dmg

Or from Terminal:

curl -fsSL https://hopsense.net/install.sh | sh

HopSense runs in the menu bar, top right

It has no Dock icon. Look for its ring at the top right of the screen and click it for the menu. On a MacBook with a notch, a full menu bar can hide it: quit another menu-bar app to make room.

Linux

x86_64 or 64-bit ARM, one archive

The agent, the details window and an install script, in one archive. The agent needs no system libraries and shows a tray icon in any bar that hosts status-notifier items; the details window needs WebKitGTK 4.1, which the installer offers to add. The agent never needs root: everything lands under your own home directory, and once connected, new versions install themselves.

Install and connect

curl -fsSL https://hopsense.net/install.sh | sh

One line, no sudo: it installs HopSense and walks you through connecting this computer to your home. Run it again to update.

Or by hand, from the archive:

tar xzf hopsense-*-linux-*.tar.gz && cd hopsense-*-linux-*/
./install.sh
~/.local/bin/hopsense-agent enrol --link '<the setup link from your home>'

The script copies both programs to ~/.local/bin and registers the agent to start with your desktop session, with a launcher entry for the details window. hopsense-agent autostart remove takes all of it out again; hopsense-agent status shows the enrolment and the upload queue.

Checking a download

The service publishes the current version and the SHA-256 of each file beside the download. Ask it directly and compare with what you have:

curl -s 'https://in.hopsense.net/v1/version?platform=windows&arch=x86_64'
sha256sum HopSense-Setup.exe

Platforms are windows, macos and linux; architectures x86_64 and arm64. On a Mac, shasum -a 256 does the same job. Mobile is not available yet.
